FAQ
Q: Are stainless steel yacht ropes much heavier than regular ropes?
A: Yes, they are about 3–4 times heavier than synthetic ropes of the same diameter, but their strength is significantly greater. This does not affect static rigging or mooring applications; for dynamic applications, the weight and strength can be balanced by reducing the diameter.
Q: Is the surface too slippery to grip?
A: The surface of bare steel wire rope is quite slippery. We recommend using PVC-coated sections or adding rope sleeves in the grip areas to prevent slipping and avoid skin abrasions.
Q: How should they be cleaned and maintained?
A: Rinse with fresh water after each voyage and allow to air dry naturally; a yearly scrub with a neutral detergent will ensure a service life of over 10 years.
